Boon
8 month old neutered male Border Collie mix. 30 pounds.
Boon was adopted from RAWL as a 10 week old puppy. He was returned for being too puppyish with the previous adopters grand-daughter.
Boon currently is learning how to be confident again with the help of his roomate Kayla and training using positive reinforcement. He is very sweet and warms up quickly. He is medium energy and loves to play with all the dogs in his playgroup. Boon is housebroken, crate trained, and although he prefers not to ride in a car he rides fine. Boon would do best in a home with children over 10. He is nervous around smaller children. |

CHASE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!
After 5 years 7 months at RAWL, he has found his new home with Frank and Sara D. Chase and RAWL thank them heartily!
Blue Doberman/Hound Mix
Male - 6+ years
55 lbs
Chase is an older gentlemen but not too old to retire. Chase is our comedian here at RAWL. He loves to be silly and pinch your butt to get attention. Chase can catch a cookie from 100 feet if you can throw it that far and makes for a good partner at any fund raiser with a biscuit toss. He is great with other dogs and is constantly teaching new dogs the ropes.
Unfortunately, Chase has been at RAWL for over 5 years. It says a lot for his character that he is totally unaffected by his status at RAWL: "the longest dog to stay at RAWL — ever," and continues to have a happy personality and a big hello every morning.
It makes me wonder what his prior life was like if this is the best home he has ever known. It is time for Chase to find a real home. He is a good dog and would love to have his own person to adore. Chase needs to be in a home without cats. He likes them a little too much. Chase knows numerous tricks if they involve food and he has excellent leash manners.

Dover
3 year old neutered male. 50 pounds
Dover came to RAWL as a stray. I'm not quite sure of his breed, but we see a lot of dogs that resemble him so we'll just call him a Rappahannock Mountain Dog.
Dover is a sweet, good natured dog who is currently living with a bossy Aussie and does fine. He is currently untested with cats but will do so soon.
He rides fine in cars and has been good on the leash.

Elizabeth
7 to 8 year old spayed female Hound mix.
50 pounds.
Elizabeth is a sweet older hound with lots of spunk. She is very affectionate and loves attention. Elizabeth is good with kids, other dogs and a little too interested in cats. She is housebroken, good on a leash and fine on car rides. |

Ernie
4 year old neutered male hound, 55 pounds.
Ernie was found wandering the countryside. He is a very easy going dog with low energy and a slow tail wag. Can't you just picture him on the porch sunning himself?
Ernie seems to be housebroken. He is good with other dogs and currently untested with cats.

He's back!! Fletch
2 year old neutered male Pomerain/Spitz mix. 18 pounds.
I have to say I think Fletch has to be the most misunderstood dog in RAWL history. He has the face of an angel, sweet and innocent. But beneath lurks a very intelligent little dog. He is charming and dashing, and when you are not looking he takes over the world. Well, not really &mDASH; just your house.
He is housebroken, and likes the finer things in life like couches to lie on and numerous toys to play with.
Fletch needs a home with a person who is "Boss." He plays by the rules if the rules are in place. He is very loyal and loves his owner. He is good with other dogs but loves to play with energtic large dogs. His best friends at RAWL are Lane and Trax. |

Lane
Spayed female, 35 pounds
When Laney first came to RAWL as a puppy she had been hit by a car. Her pelvis was fractured and inoperable. She was adopted by a wonderful family who took very good care of her.
Unfortunetly her family is making a move to Australia. Laney could not go with them and she was returned to RAWL. Laney is housebroken, great with other dogs and kids, and likes to chase cats. Laney walks with a limp; she is currently med free but may need aspirin in the future. |

Micky
Min Pin X, 7 year old neutered male, 21 pounds
Micky is a super size mini-pin mix. He is a wonderul little dog that loves attention. He is great on a leash and rides fine in cars. He tested fine with other dogs.
He is crate trained as well as housebroken. |

Oreo
Spayed female 2 year Cocker Spaniel. 30 pounds.
Doogie and Oreo were taken in by a local couple who were helping out
a family whose house was foreclosed upon. After two weeks with them they decided they really didn't want the dogs and brought them to RAWL.
They are siblings who would prefer to go to a home together. Doogie is more outgoing and loves attention and to play ball. Oreo is less social at first but watches her brother for guidence and warms up pretty quickly. Both dogs seem to be housebroken and do well on a leash. They are good with other dogs and are fine with cats. If unable to be placed together, they would each need to go to a home with another dog. |

Perkins
2 year old neutered male Shepherd type mix. 60 pounds
Perkins came to RAWL as a stray. Initially slightly scared, he has turned into a loving, very obedient dog. Perkins knows how to sit, down, heel and give paw. He is housebroken and crate trained. Very affectionate — and he loves to play ball.

Spanky
__ year old neutered male Pit Bull Mix. 50 pounds.
Spanky is a kind dog who was given up by his owner who could no longer care for him. He was frequently found roaming the neighborhood and his owner would not contain him.
Spanky is good with most other dogs. He did ok with our office cat but did have interest in her. He is housebroken and good on a leash. He'll hop right in a car to go for a ride. He will play ball. |
|
Trax
7 to 8 year old neutered male Foxhound. 65 pounds and gaining.
Wonderful Trax came in as a stray. He was quite thin and full of ticks. He is the easiest going dog and really just wants to lie around and eat a few times a day. He is outstanding with other dogs, and tested fine with cats. He is housebroken and great on a leash.

Wren
2 year old spayed female, Malamute mix, 105 pounds.
Wren came to RAWL due to a family tragedy. She was well loved and it shows. Wren would do best in a home with another large breed male dog. Or can be adopted with Rufus although not mandatory. Wren is housebroken, good on a leash and LOVES to go on car rides. Wren is not good with cats.
